In Rise of Flight, you have a series of flares available to fire from a Flare Pistol in 4 colors.
Green, Yellow, Red, and White. 5 flares for each color. The meaning and use of each flare is outlined in the following.
Green: ID check, (two planes fire green flares to indicate they are not hostile) Acknowledgement of flare, (I have seen your flare, and will assist)
Yellow: In distress. "My plane is in trouble. Whether under attack, or mechanical failure."
Red: Plane Spotted. Visual ID still required.
White: Spotting Flare. Either to increase Night time visibility, or to allow friendly planes to spot you.
RoF is a very tactical, and unforgiving game and requires quite a bit of concentration. This is why we will be splitting the bomber/scout and the fighter flights and putting different Fight leads for both so as to allow the best possible CnC for both groups.
There will be around 5 minutes of Pre-flight briefing to make sure were all on the same page before taking off.
